Non-fiction: My grandmother hummed old Spanish hymns when she tended her flowers in the morning. Swelling and falling, her voice let me hear from the inside, where I was still covered in my bed, what it sounded like to live serenely and warmly, careless of all the world except for the streams of water she was pouring over the petals.
